On November 5, 1937, Berdiansk Cracking Plant produced its first products – aviation gasoline. From this day, the history of the plant “AZMOL” began. In the past 80 years, the enterprise withstood a lot: drab existence and bright holidays, joy of victories and the bitterness of failures, rise to the heights of glory and a precipitous fall, which could have led to the extinction of the plant. Over a long history, “AZMOL” withstood more than one rebirth. The company changed its name several times.

In 1937, the plant received its first name – Berdiansk Cracking Plant of the People’s Commissariat of Petroleum Industry, and in 1994 it received the current abbreviated name “AZMOL” – “Azov Lubricants and Oils”. During the Second World War, the plant was evacuated to Krasnokamsk for three and a half years, where it continued its operation. After the restoration of the plant, the production of the plant and the work of the collective were awarded with the highest state awards many times. The enterprise successfully survived the crises of 1990’s, but the decline, which began in 2010, gradually led to bankruptcy in 2015.

Owing to the British investments, the company resumed, to its 80th anniversary, its production activities, the refurbishment works are carried out and the motor oil manufacturing process is modernized.

The revival of the company’s international trade relations began as well. In spring of 2017, products of “AZMOL-British Petrochemicals” returned to the markets of Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. In the summer, the delegations of the wholesale buyers from Turkey and Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Kazakhstan visited the plant. Partners from Estonia and China show an interest in the production of the Berdiansk plant.
